FALKLANDS ARE GO FOR ALAND GAMES

Several Falklands sportsmen and women will be travelling to the Finnish island of Aland to participate in the Island Games beginning on Saturday, 27 June 2009.
On Friday evening the team as well as officials accompanying them met for a reception at Government House.
In introducing Falklands Vice-Chairman, Steve Dent, H. E. the Governor Mr Huckle congratulated all who were going for their hard work and determination in getting thus far in their sporting careers. He also thanked those who would be accompanying them as coaches and supervisors.
Vice-Chairman of the Falkland Islands Overseas Games Association (FIOGA), Steve Dent, thanked all who contributed and offered support the Falklands Team at the games. He paid tribute to the Chairman and the General Manager of the team, Mr Patrick Watts and all the work he has done to organise the event from his home here in Stanley and in Holland.
Students attending are: Laura Minto, Sonia Arkhipkina, Dominic Jaffray, Jordan Philips, Aidan Smith, Michael Brownlee, Dylan Stephenson, Lucas Biggs, Daniel and Kyle Biggs, Kevin Clapp, Rod Tuckwood, Glenn Ross, (Steve Vincent – non playing Captain) Bono McKay, Matthew Vincent, Gareth (Joe) Joseph, and a 20-strong football team that will include Wayne Clement, who severely fractured and dislocated his ankle in January.
