The DARE Programme is back at the infant/Junior School and thanks to Sergeant Tom Whistler and WPC Priscilla Halliday of the Royal Falkland Islands Police Year 5, Endurance Class and Year 6 have all received their DARE Certificates.  A graduation ceremony was held at the Infant/Junior School at 1630hrs on Monday, 04 August 2008 where students reported on what the DARE Programme meant to them.  In Year 6, Scott Thain, Dean Dent and Benjamin Somerville read out their reports about how to say no to drugs and alcohol.

In Endurance Class, Victoria Williams, Kenton Smith and Leon Bagley told those gathered about giving temptation the cold shoulder and from Year 5, Shannon Alazia, Hannah McPhee and India Clark explained about how to avoid and get out of tricky situations.

Role plays covered how to say no to drugs, how to say no to tobacco, and refusing alcohol as well as stopping anti-social behaviour.

H. E. the Governor Mr Alan Huckle handed out certificates to all the graduates and Sgt. Whistler gave a packet of goodies to the graduates that included a DARE Tee Shirt.

In his remarks, the Head Teacher Mr Nick Barrett praised the efforts of the Royal Falkland Islands Police and challenged all the graduates to keep what they learned in practice as they continued their education at the Community School.

The Woodbine Café provided a finger buffet for students a, parents and friends after the ceremony was over.
