Ascension : Air Movements Flight Heritage Project Submitted by The Islander (Raymond Ellick) 02.11.2006 (Article Archived on 23.11.2006)
On 25 Oct 06, 5 members of the Air Movements Det, ably assisted by Cpl Jenny “Green Fingers” Rose from the Commcen attacked a heritage project on Ascension Island head on, under the guidance of Super Security Serco Steve Roulston (AKA Captain Cactus).
Georgetown and Two Boats. Armed with the basic tools, Fg Off Tim “Slasher” Twaite gave the order, and very soon the merry men were making great headway to a tuneful rendition of “I’m A Lumberjack”.
The first casualty of the viscous Mexican Thorn was SAC Ryan “My Place or Yours” Gavin. Upon dragging one of the fallen trees past where he was sawing, it had unfortunately made an impressive gash along his arm. I think in truth he had strategically placed his arm there to draw blood in the hope of a little sympathy later that evening from members of the female species!
With the Movers (and honorary Movers) battling away at full speed, there was little time for posing for photos, but one such opportunity almost ended in disaster as SAC Geordie “Chopper” Robinson over enthusiastically slung his pick axe over his shoulder in the hope of an action man style pose, very nearly taking his own head clean off!
