Shipping Report

The St Helena Government has today published, on the SHG website, a report on the RMS St Helena and wider shipping options for the Island. A copy is also available from the Public Library. The report is entitled “Review of the Use, Scheduling and Financing of the RMS St Helena, and wider shipping options for the Island 2012 – 2016” and has been written by Julian Morris. It can be downloaded from www.sainthelena.gov.sh

In addition, the Executive Summary and Recommendations have been sent to the media.

The St Helena Government invites members of the public and other interested parties to comment on the report and comments should be sent to the Secretary of the Access and Transport Committee, either on email sec.em@cwimail.sh or in writing to the Secretary of the Access and Transport Committee, c/o the Access Office in the Castle. Comments should be made by no later than 12 January 2011. Governor Gurr is also seeking comments from St Helena Line and Andrew Weir Shipping.

These comments will then be considered by the Access and Transport Committee and findings will be presented to InfoLegco and Executive Council. Then, in early 2011, Governor Gurr will make a decision on the recommendations contained within the report.
