The Stephen Jaffray Memorial Fund will be better off at the end of the weekend if the Stanley Fire Brigade has anything to do with it. In addition to last weekend’s fire engine pull, members of the Fire Department are pressure-cleaning wheelie bins this weekend in order to raise more cash for the charity.

Last weekend’s effort raised approximately £720.00 and it will not be known to late Sunday or on Monday morning how much was raised this weekend.

Gerard is Stephen's brother and is also in the Fire Brigade. He helped to pressure-clean the bins and collect money for the charity.
The Stephen Jaffray Memorial Fund was set up about 10 years ago in order to help families and medical patients who have been sent overseas for treatment to keep in touch with each other. Issuing phone cards is but one way the charity helps patients and their families.
Stephen Jaffray, who sadly died in 1992, was a member of the Stanley Fire Brigade and Gerard, his brother and a fire-fighter, helped to raise money on both weekends.
