Legislative Council to Meet
The first sitting of the fifth meeting of Legislative Council will take place on Monday 15th November at the Court House in Jamestown. Commencing at 10am the expected one day meeting will be aired live via Radio St Helena and will encompass a range of issues affecting the island.
All Councillors except the Honourables, Anthony Green and Tara Thomas, who are overseas on Government business, will be in attendance. The Chief Secretary, Andrew Wells; Financial Secretary, Paul Blessington; and Attorney General, Ken Baddon will also be present at the meeting.
A total of 9 questions will be asked at the session, of which the majority of answers will be given by the relevant Chairs of Council Committees. There will also be two motions.
Two Bills will be taken to the House. The Bills concerned are the Public Finance Ordinance 2010 and the Social Security Ordinance 2010; if approved these Bills will then become law. The meeting will conclude with the customary adjournment debate.
The last formal meeting of Legislative Council took place on 22nd October 2010.
