Former Argentine President, Nestor Kirchner (60), husband of current Argentine President Christina Fernandez De Kirchner has died of a heart attack in Argentina. According to CNN the former president died at approximately 0930hrs on Wednesday, 27 October 2010 in hospital at Calafate in the Patagonia region of Argentina.

Former Argentine President, Nestor Kirchner (60), husband of current Argentine President Christina Fernandez De Kirchner has died of a heart attack in Argentina.According to CNN the former president died at approximately 0930hrs on Wednesday, 27 October 2010 in hospital at Calafte in the Patagonia region of Argentina.
Initially people in the Falklands received the news with shock, saying that they wouldn’t be celebrating or anything like that.Many people were subdued and kept their feelings to themselves.“It just isn’t our nature to celebrate anyone’s death,” was the typical answer received from people on the street.“He was a human being, wasn’t he,” said one person.
Mr Kirchner had been in declining health recently and in 2009 had undergone two heart operations.
Born in Rio Gallegos, he was the son Maria Juana Ostroic Dragnic, and a Post office Official with Swiss German decent. His political career began as mayor of Rio Gallegos from 1987 to 1991. In 1991 he was elected Governor of Santa Cruz and held the position for the next 12 years. He then ran for President.
Nestor Kirchner was the President of UNISUR and Former President of Argentina from 2003 to 2007.He was instrumental in getting his wife, Christina Fernandez de Kirchner elected President in 2007 and it was widely expected that he would become president again in 2011.
