Chief Development Officer Gains Fellowship of the Chartered Management Institute

Chief Development Officer, Dr Corinda Essex, has become a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.

Dr Essex became a Member of the Institute shortly after completing her Doctorate in 2000 when, in addition to writing a thesis, she successfully completed assignments on a range of modules. These included human resources management; management of change; policy development; management, administration and policy; managing resources in developing countries, particularly in the context of aid donor funded projects; and management of organisations.

Since then, she successfully completed programme and project management training under the United Nations Development Programme in New York and Bratislava and with the European Commission in Brussels.

Dr Essex has over 20 years’ management experience and has served as head of the Development and Economic Planning Department for 11 years. During this time, she acted as Chief Secretary on several occasions and also as Financial Secretary and Head of the Public Works and Services Department.

Dr Essex explained that in order to be upgraded to a Fellow with the Chartered Management Institute, she had to demonstrate that she is an experienced senior manager who is committed to continuing professional development. Dr Essex added that she also had to show that she can share knowledge and expertise with other managers.

Speaking today, Acting Chief Secretary, Gillian Francis, said “Dr Essex is to be congratulated for this outstanding achievement.”
