Members of the Rations Squadron pose outside Liberty Lodge with a cheque for £2,000.00 to help pay for solar panels on the roof.
A charity walk to Boxer Bridge in April helped to raise £2,000.00 for Liberty Lodge and £1300.00 for the KEMH. The Liberty Lodge Cheque was presented to SAMA ’82 Chairman, Gary Clement, who said the money would be put towards the estimated £10,000.00 needed to install solar panels on the roof of Liberty Lodge.
Mr Clement went on to say that Liberty Lodge was very busy from November to March and that it was the only lodge of its kind. He said that the running costs are costing a fortune and solar panels would help to lower them.
Flt Sgt Parry, the organiser, said that he had a tour in the Falklands about 15 years ago when another charity walk took place for a national charity. He had come up with the idea of fundraising for a local charity. Two of the main suggestions he got were Liberty Lodge and the Hospital.
