A reception to commemorate 40 years since the Brunel’s SS Great Britain’s removal to the UK was held at the Museum on Thursday, 13 May 2010.  Approximately 40 people including H. E. the Governor Mr Alan Huckle and Mrs Helen Huckle viewed the exhibit which included artefacts from the vessel as well as photos of the effort required in moving the vessel.  There was also a DVD presentation featuring Lord Strathcona and rare video footage of the removal.

In her remarks Mrs Leona Roberts, Museum Curator, thanked all who was involved in preparing for the reception and those who came to see the exhibit.  Many people who worked on the SS Great Britain’s removal to the UK were present at the reception.

While looking at the exhibit guests enjoyed a finger buffet provided by the Brasserie.
