MBE FOR CLAUDETTE ANDERSON

By J. Brock (FINN)

Government House has announced that Her Majesty the Queen has awarded the MBE to Claudette Anderson, Clerk of Councils and Public Relations Officer with the Legislature Department of the Falkland Islands Government.

The Acting Governor, Mr. Russ Jarvis, said, upon hearing of the award, "this is a fitting conclusion to the 20th anniversary year.

The reasons for the award were never disclosed but this remarkable woman was deeply involved in all of the events of 2002. She also played a central role in the management of numerous visits to the Falklands by members of the Royal Family, including HRH the prince of Wales and HRH the Duke of York, as well as MPs, Senior Officials and FIG guests.

Previous to her appointment as Clerk of Councils, Claudette worked at the Falkland Islands Development Corporation and Cable & Wireless Plc.
