BREAST CANCER SCREANING TEAM TO VISIT FALKLANDS IN MARCH 2010

By J. Brock (FINN)

The first trial visit by the Breast Cancer Screening Team from Clinica Alamada will be taking place around March 2010.  In preparation for the visit the Chief Medical Officer has sent an up to date leaflet to candidates for screening for them to consider before making a decision to have the test completed.  Therefore, all women from the ages of 47 to 73 should have received a leaflet.

The covering letter says that there could be three parts to the test, with the forst being the mammogram, the second an ultrasound and the third a fine needle biopsy depending of the results of the first two tests.

Eligible women are advised to read the leaflet carefully prior to deciding whether or not to have the mammogram.

Along with the leaflet is a form to fill out if you wish to have the procedure done.  A charge of £20.00 will be made when the appointment is finalised.
