TEAM TRANQUIL RAISES APPROXIMATELY £3,500.00

By J. Brock (FINN)

A successful Supper Dance was held at the FIDF Hall on Saturday, 10 October 2009 in aid of Team Tranquil.  October 10th is mental Health day and as promised the listening and support service was launched on the day as well.

At the supper dance there was the food of four nationalities represented: The Falklands, Chile, the Philippians and St Helena.  The food was prepared by the Brasserie, Malvina House Hotel, Shorty’s Diner and local people, expert at preparing Falklands’ dishes.

During the evening there was an auction and dancing demonstrations from Chile and Scotland.  The St Helenian Band, SWN provided dance music until the small hours.

Just under £3,000 was made from tickets and the raffle but there is still money to be counted and organiser, Ruth Taylor estimates £3,500.00 will be made after the bills are paid.  With the money two benches in the cemetery will be installed as well as funding for workshops on the West.

The Help and Support service went live at 2000hrs on Saturday, 10 October.  At the moment the help line is open on Saturday from 2000 to 0001hrs on phone number 51515.
