Falklands : Successful Falklands Craft Fair Well Attended

The annual Falkland Craft Fair has completed in Stanley with an increasing number of high-quality entrants.

SUCCESSFUL CRAFT FAIR WELL ATTENDED

 The annual Falkland Craft Fair has completed in Stanley with an increasing number of high-quality entrants.  The two day show was well attended with increasing numbers of entrants in each category.  The prize-giving and raffle draw were held on Sunday at 1600hrs. Cllr John Birmingham acted as MC and prizes were given out by H. E. The Governor Mr Alan Huckle.  Prizes awarded are as follows:

 

 

Class A – Homespun Wool, sponsored by Falkland Wool Centre, was won by Jackie Adams

 

Class B – Felting, was won by Shona

 

Class C – Knitting, sponsored by Kelper Stores Limited, was won by Nicola Crowie

 

Class D – Weaving, Rug-making and Basketwork, sponsored by Reflections, was won by Margot Smallwood

 

Class E – Sewing and Crochet, sponsored by Seafish Chandlary Limited, was won by Wendy Reynolds

 

Class F – Embroidery, Tapestry and Cross-Stitch, sponsored by Kelper Stores Limited, was won by Nicola Crowie

 

 

 

Class G – Soft Toy Making, Sponsored by Falkland Islands Company Limited, was won by Jill Harris

 

Class H – Horn-work, Gear-making, Leatherwork and Skins, sponsored by Fortuna Limited, was won by Mark McPhee

 

Class I – Woodwork and Metalwork, sponsored by Fortuna Limited, was won by Kerry Middleton

 

Class J – Pottery, Jewellery and Sculpture, sponsored by the Falkland Islands Company Limited, was won by Wendy and Danielle Harris

 

Class K – Model Making, sponsored by Lifestyles Limited, was won by John Perrens

 

Class L – Art (Any Medium) Sponsored by The Pink Shop Gallery, was won by Jackie Cooper

 

Class M – Photography (black/white or colour) sponsored by Studio 52, was won by Dale Evans

 

Class N – Any Other Handicraft Item, Sponsored by Lifestyles, was won by Nick Rowlands

 

 

Marj McPhee Memorial Prize, sponsored by the Spinners, Weavers and Handicrafts Guild, for the novice whose work in Sections “A” to “G” most impresses the Guild’s judges was won by Carol Willis

 

George Porter Challenge Cup for the most points in Sections “H” to “I” was won by Kerry Middleton

 

The Standard Chartered Bank Rose Bowl and Miniature fir most points in sections “A,” “B,” “C,” and “D” was won by Jackie Adams

 

The Falkland Islands Company Limited Challenge Cup and Medallion fir Children’s Runner Up was won by Jenny Harris

 

 

The Falkland Islands Company Limited Challenge Cup and Medallion for the Child with the most points overall was won by Nick Rowlands

 

The Falkland Islands Development Corporation Challenge Cup and Miniature for Adult Runner-up was won by Wendy Reynolds

 

Cable & Wireless Challenge Cup and Miniature for the adult with the most points overall was won by Nicola Crowie

 

In his closing remarks H. E. The Governor Mr Alan Huckle congratulated the winners and all who entered items for an excellent show.  He also thanked the organisers for putting in a lot of hard work to make the show such a success.
