The St Helena News Media Services is pleased to advise that our Editor Miss Kerisha Stevens has obtained a Distinction in Journalism and News-writing.

This was a Distance Learning Course with the London School of Journalism. The course contained 16 Modules and had to be studied over a period of 12 - 18 months.

Kerisha started the course on the 22nd January 2009 and through hard work and dedication, coupled with producing the 'St Helena Herald' on a weekly basis, completed the course on the 25th August 2009, approximately 7 months.

Tutors Comments:

“Kerisha has made good progress during the course and has tackled the assignments with diligence and enthusiasm. She has shown continual improvement in her reporting, feature writing skills and interview technique. She has also demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a good grasp of legal issues. I sincerely wish her all the best in her journalistic career.” Kerisha said on Wednesday:

"The course was a demanding one and required a lot of study time, but my Tutor was great and always willing to give advice. I am very pleased with my achievement and hope that I will be able to implement some of the things learnt, into the St Helena Herald.

"I would like to thank the Media Service for giving me this opportunity to study and hopefully I will be able to repay them through the development of the paper."

We are very proud of what Kerisha has accomplished, and can only echo the sentiments of her Tutor "All the best in your journalistic career".
