SHG Launches Training Programme in Management

The St Helena Government launched its Management Development Programme on 26 August 2009. This forms part of public service modernisation which is all about improving performance and efficiency in SHG.

Overall, the programme is designed to help improve the public sector by giving managers the knowledge and skills to work more efficiently. As a result, SHG should see more progress in delivering against the strategic objectives.

The training is to be delivered to SHG’s senior and middle managers who are responsible for financial and policy decisions. It will also be attended by persons aspiring to management roles. The programme proved to be extremely popular when advertised to staff and will therefore be delivered on a number of occasions.

Staff will work through different modules on a flexible basis and will cover an introduction to management, managing themselves, managing others and managing resources. Modules are being designed by the PSMP Team and will be delivered by a range of people including members of the team and officials from SHG.
