St Helena : St Helena: Education Department Away Day

The Education Department held its away day at Prince Andrew School, yesterday 10 August. The event was opened by Lilla Oliver, Chief Education Officer who welcomed everyone in attendance and gave an overview of the day.

The Education Department held its away day at Prince Andrew School, yesterday 10 August. The event was opened by Lilla Oliver, Chief Education Officer who welcomed everyone in attendance and gave an overview of the day.


   


Staff from across the department were in attendance to discuss a range of priorities which will be implemented over the coming months.


 


Derek Henry, Head Teacher and Penny Bowers, Deputy Head (Pastoral) talked about proposed changes to the schools management structure, proposed changes to pastoral care, and ideas for curriculum development. There was also talk on how the department will play its part in helping achieve the vision for the Island.


 


The event concluded with work on plans for various sectors within the department. These covered a range of issues from providing primary care to development of the adult vocational service.


 


The event concluded at around 4pm.
