FUEL SPILL AT MARE HARBOUR
A spill of aviation fuel-water sullage occurred in the vicinity of Mare Harbour in the early hours of the 4th August.
An immediate response team was despatched shortly after the leak was discovered and they have successfully contained the spill, including that which had leaked into the waters of East Cove.
Since the slick is an aviation fuel-water sullage it is likely to naturally break up and should have less of an impact on the environment when compared with thicker oils. BFSAI will continue to clean up the spill so as to minimise the impact on the environment and protect wildlife.
