Submitted by Saint Helena Herald (Juanita Brock) 30.01.2004 (Article Archived on 13.02.2004)

Atkins first draft of the supplementary report was received in London and St Helena this week, and is currently being considered by SHG’s Air Access team and DFID.

Air Access Update No. 11

Atkins first draft of the supplementary report was received in London and St Helena this week, and is currently being considered by SHG’s Air Access team and DFID.  SHG and DFID propose to hold a telephone conference in the next week to discuss the way forward.  The St Helena Governments Executive Council, and DFID ministers are being apprised of progress.

A meeting was held with Air Safety Services International (ASSI), to discuss a number of issues arising from civil aviation regulations that will need to be considered in the design of any future airport. ASSI is a body set up specifically to support and regulate air services in the Overseas Territories.

SHG and DFID Air Access team continue to work towards finalising this phase of the airport initiative and will keep members of the public advised on progress.
