On Monday night the Ukrainian Registered ROLL ON/ROLL OFF container ship the KAPITAN PASTUSHENKO (pronounced PAST-TU-SHENKO) passed the Island 32.9nm off at 22:36 hours making a speed of just 7.6 knots.

On Monday night the Ukrainian Registered ROLL ON/ROLL OFF container ship the KAPITAN PASTUSHENKO (pronounced PAST-TU-SHENKO) passed the Island 32.9nm off at 22:36 hours making a speed of just 7.6 knots. She regularly passes by on a fixed  voyage between Luanda, Angola and Santos, Brazil. On this voyage she is bound for Luanda. She has a length of 140mtrs, a breadth of 19mtrs and a draught of 7mtrs.


 


The KAPITAN PASTUSHENKO has a Gross Registered Tonnage of 8,466 and was built in 1984.


 


On Tuesday morning, keen observers will see the geared Multi-Purpose cargo ship MARGARETHA GREEN which is registered in Gibraltar passing the Island at it's closest point of 18.6nm at 08:59hrs across the leeward side of the Island.


 


She was built in the Netherlands in 1999 and is on passage from West Africa to South America with an arrival date of June 18th. She is owned by Beluga Shipping and has a Gross Registered Tonnage of 11,894.


 


Mid morning Thursday the Very Large Crude oil Carrier (VLCC) SUNRISE JEWEL which is registered in Liberia passed to the East of the Island 32 nautical miles off at a speed of 13.7kts while on passage to Ascension Island where she is expected to make Landfall at 03:00hrs on Friday 12th June.


 


The SUNRISE JEWEL has a Gross Registered Tonnage of 156,408, her overall length is 332mtrs, her breadth is 58mtrs and she has is drawing a draught of 20.7mtrs.


 


Following closely behind was the Belgian Registered Container carrier SAFMARINE NGAMI which passed approximately 5 nautical miles to the east of the Island at a speed of 15.2kts.


 


She is bound for Newark, USA with an ETA of June 24th. She has a length of 210mtrs, a breadth of 30mtrs and a draught of 9.7mtrs and is a considered minute (mi-nute) to the SUNRISE JEWEL with a Gross Registered tonnage of just 25,904.
