KEMH Staff were prepared for Exercise Silver Teal’s casualties as they arrived at the hospital throughout Friday morning.  They dealt with three “fatalities” and 17 that were rescued with various “injuries.”

According to Gold Command spokesman, Paul Martinez, the operation is continuing throughout the afternoon with two diving vessels looking for the missing 46 people still unaccounted for.  Divers did a search of the sunken tender to see if there were any bodies trapped inside.

Also searching with heat sensing equipment is the SAR Helicopter from MPC.

During the afternoon sweeps were made in areas around Whalebone and Gypsy Cove as well as the north shore of Stanley Harbour.

It is expected that participants will stand down from the exercise at around 1500hrs or thereabouts.

Full marks, Claire!
