Funding has been approved for the St Helena Access Ramp Project.

St Helena Access Ramp Project

Funding has been approved for the St Helena Access Ramp Project.

The Bailey Bridge, has already been assembled on the Wharf and the next step is to cast steel reinforced concrete anchor blocks and a support structure. Detailed drawings for these have been completed.

Simultaneously, work will be carried out on the Solomon’s owned pontoon, to receive the other end of the access ramp, again based on detailed drawings.

The casting of the concrete requires working space for the materials, plant and formwork and will be carried out in an area on the Wharf set aside for this purpose.

Anchor chains, which have been located on island, will be used to connect the anchor blocks on the sea bed to the pontoon. This will keep the pontoon in position.

The whole structure should be ready for trial in July.
