Delegation from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association

 to Visit St Helena

A delegation from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association will visit St Helena in February 2009. They were originally due to visit in August this year.

The Delegation will include Fraser Kemp, Labour MP who will be accompanied by his partner; Lord Shutt of Greetland, a Liberal Democrat who will also be accompanied by his partner; and Brian Jenkins a Labour MP.

Their interests are constitutional and governance issues; the airport and associated challenges; infrastructure and development challenges and aspirations downstream from the airport; environmental issues; and education and youth.

The visitors are due to arrive on Friday 6 February and will remain until Sunday 8 February 2009. The delegates will also spend some time on Ascension Island.

A programme is being drawn up so that St Helena can make the best use of the time that the delegation is on the Island.
