Appointments made to the Immigration Control Board
Governor Gurr has made various appointments to the Immigration Control Board. These appointments have been made under the new Immigration Control Ordinance. This Ordinance has been designed to be more modern and simplified on laws relating to immigration and the controls that are imposed on immigrants who want to work and hold land on St Helena.
The Board deals with all applications for immigration to St Helena (except short visits not exceeding 90 days) and comprises Gay Marr as Chairman and Connie Stevens as Deputy Chairman. Other Members are Colin Williams, Cyril George and Beverly Francis, and the Secretary is Aldhelm Garner.
Other appointments in connection with the ordinance include Chief of Police, Derek Thomas as Chief Immigration Officer and WPC Emerald Newman, WPC Fiyanna Maggott and WPC Tina Yon as Immigration Officers. All appointments have been made for three years.
The St Helena Government is extremely grateful to all persons who served on the previous Board for their valuable contribution to the public service
