Jhellum Breaks Up in the Falklands

More photos of the Jhellum will be forthcoming.  This is how it looked just after 1215 on Saturday, 18 October 2008

(By J. Brock (FINN)

The last wooden ship built in Liverpool that is above water is falling apart in the Falklands.  At 1210pm on Saturday, 18 October the bow section of the Jhellum blew down at low tide and it is expected that the stern section will soon break apart.

The Jhellum had become victim to wood-worm and the Falklands severe windy conditions.

There were eye witnesses to the break-up of the Jhellum and this story will be updated as soon as they can be contacted and interviewed.  Watch this space.

Note:  A full series of photos taken on 18 October 2008 can be seen on the Falklandnews.com website.
