WOOL REPORT: for the week ending Friday 13th December 2002
Auctions
In Australia, the Eastern Market Indicator added three cents on Tuesday, dropped a cent on Wednesday and drifted a further four cents on Thursday. The EMI thus closed the week down two cents to close at 1,165 A cents. This was the last Australian sale week before the three weeks Christmas recess.
In South Africa the Cape Overall Merino Indicator was down 2.9 percent moving from 4707 to 4571 SA cents/kg.
In New Zealand the Fine Indicator fell another 25 cents to close at 1499 NZ cents, the Medium Indicator lost 15 cents to finish at 795 NZ cents whilst the Strong Indicator closed unchanged at 455 NZ cents. The Lamb Indicator was quoted up nine at 471 NZ cents.
In Britain there was strong demand with all prices generally higher and a practically full clearance.
Currencies
At the time of writing the Australian dollar trading at about A$2.816/£ whilst the New Zealand dollar was at about NZ$3.092/£.
