FALKLANDS YOMP FOR LIFE COMPLETED IN GOOD TIME

By J. Brock (FINN)

Two people whose lives have changed due to the dreaded “C” have “Yomped for Life” on East Falkland.  Andy Brownlee, whose disease is in remission and Louise Taylor, a staunch supporter have completed their 144 mile yomp to raise money for a team of specialists to come to the KEMH from Santiago to carry out breast cancer screening in the Falklands.

Armed with a bucket for donations the duo hiked past Fitzroy Ridge to MPA and on to Blue Beach before returning to Stanley via Estancia.

Andy and Louise completed the yomp at the Liberation Monument at 1430 hours on Sunday, 21 September 2008.  Though suffering from blisters and swollen ankles the pair looked relaxed as they were greeted by a group of well-wishers including H. E. the Governor and Mrs Huckle.

At least £40,000.00 is needed to bring the team to the Falklands for two weeks.  This yomp should bring the amount collected thus far to £15,000.00 but the money they collected hasn’t been counted yet.
