Mr Robin Woods has received an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) at a reception at Government House on Wednesday10 September 2008.  Approximately 100 people attended the reception and watched on as Mr Woods received his OBE from H. E. the Governor Mr Alan Huckle.

In his remarks the Governor explained that the OBE was a young order only begun in 1917.  The oldest being the Order of the Garter in 1348.  He also quoted (but did not reveal identities) from letters of recommendation received on Mr Wood’s behalf.  He also read out an impressive list of Mr Woods’ published works.  He also said it was a pleasure to award the OBE at Government House as Mr Woods could have received it at Buckingham Palace in the presence of the Royal Family.

For his part Mr Woods said it was lively to see everyone there and he thanked H. E. the Governor Mr Huckle for hosting a reception for him.  He had enjoyed coming back to the Falklands since his retirement to work on various projects.  He also recalled that 2008 was quite a year as he and Ann were married in Christ Church Cathedral 50 years ago in May.
