HE the Governor has confirmed that arrangements were made for human remains, believed to be of Argentine origin from the 1982 conflict, to be transferred to Argentina via the LAN Chile flight on Saturday 19 July '08.  The return was carried out according to the wishes of the Argentine Government.

The remains were escorted from Mount Pleasant by the Defence Attache of the British Embassy in Buenos Aires and handed over to representatives of the Argentine Government in a private meeting at Rio Gallegos, where the LAN flight made its regular monthly scheduled stop.

This whole matter has been handled with every due respect for the fallen.
