BLIND DAVE COMPLETES FALKLANDS MARATHON

By J. Brock (FINN)

Despite a lengthy delay in Argentina, blind Dave Heeley and his guide runner Malcolm Carr completed the first leg of their bid to run seven marathons in seven days on seven continents.  It took Blind Dave and his guide runner just under 4.5 hours to complete the run at Mount Pleasant.

At the time of this posting Blind Dave has also completed the marathon in Rio.

Starting at 2001hrs on Sunday, Dave was also accompanied by Simon Arnold, winner of the Standard Chartered Stanley Marathon and Hugh Marsden, the runner-up.

Steve Dent helped to organise the Stanley visit and logistics at this end, however, due to the delay in Argentina, some of the programme had to be cut.

Thanks goes to the MOD, who allowed the run to take place at MPA and all who ran with Dave and those who cheered him and Malcolm during the run as well as the vehicle and Fire Engine support.  Some of the military actually ran with full kit.
