This past weekend, many people were honoured to be a part of the Day of Remembrance ceremonies. The Grotto of Our Lady of Ascension was filled with Island folks who wanted to be a part of remembering the Americans who have contributed so much to the history of Ascension Island, especially those who lost their lives here during World War II. A beautiful memorial service was conducted by Captain Chris LaPack, Chaplain, USAF and Father Norris.
Congratulations to Shari Parkhill and the Ascension Island Heritage Society Committee for a wonderful occasion. Events like this take a great deal of planning, preparation and dedication, and help to make Ascension Island the strong and vibrant community that so many of us are proud to be associated with.
