Desire Board Appoints Robert Lyons Non-executive Director

By J. Brock (FINN)

Desire Petroleum Plc has announced the appointment of Mr. Robert Lyons as a non-executive director.

According to a Company press release, Bob Lyons was a director of the Peak Group (now part of the AGR Group), in which capacity he had been an advisor to Desire, and is already familiar with the Company's operations in the Falkland Islands. Bob's experience in all aspects of drilling, especially offshore, adds considerable additional expertise to the Board and complements that covered by other non-executive directors. With a drilling campaign in prospect, he will be able to play a significant role in its design and implementation.

Dr Colin Phipps, the Chairman, is said to be delighted that a professional of Bob Lyons' stature has joined the Desire Board at a time when the search for a suitable drilling rig is being actively pursued by all of the oil companies involved in the Falkland Islands.

"The appointment underlines Desire's belief in, and commitment to, exploration in the North Falkland Basin, where we have identified over twelve significant prospects on the Company's Licences. Bob is already familiar with these prospects, and shares the Board's enthusiasm for their potential. I expect him to make an immediate and valuable contribution to the Board," he said.

Robert Lyons (44) holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Class I) in Mining Engineering from the University of Leeds and Master of Engineering degree in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot Watt University. On completion of his masters degree he joined Sedco Forex Schlumberger as a rig engineer where he remained until 1987. He then joined Enterprise Oil as a drilling engineer initially based in Aberdeen. During a 16 year career with Enterprise he held positions of drilling engineer, drilling superintendent, drilling manager and operations manager, working and living in many of Enterprise's overseas locations. In this time he had responsibility for operations in the UK, Cambodia, Vietnam, Middle East, Italy and Brazil and was involved in both exploration and development activities onshore and offshore, covering specialist areas such as remote operations, deepwater and HPHT. In 2002, he left the company to join the Peak Group in Aberdeen as the Chief Operating Officer with the primary responsibility to build the outsourced well project management side of the business (Peak Well Management). Over a four year period Peak Well Management became the leader in its field with annual turnover increasing from £1.3 million to in excess of £100 million. In 2006 the Peak Group was purchased by the AGR Group of Norway and, following a transition period, he left the company to devote more time to his family and his passion for racing cars.

In addition to his directorship of the Company, Bob Lyons is, or has been, a director of or partner of the following companies or partnerships, at any time in the previous five years:

Robert Lyons current directorships/partnerships include: Rubislaw Investments Limited. Ardoyne Developments Limited, Ardoyne Investments Limited, Ardoyne Consultants Limited

His past directorships/partnerships included: AGR Peak Group (Holdings) Limited, AGR Peak Well Management Limited, AGR Peak Consultancy Services Limited, AGR Peak Solution Systems Limited

Bob Lyons currently holds no ordinary shares in the Company.
