An excellent selection of art and craft was on display during the Annual Falkland Craft Fair held on 15 and 16 September 2007 at the Falkland Islands Community School.  The show was open between 1400hrs and 1600hrs on both days with the prize-giving held at 1600hrs on Sunday, the 16th.  In her welcoming remarks Chair of the Committee, Mrs. Barbara Curtis thanked people who put in a lot of hard work, especially the Education Department and Headmaster of the FICS for the venue.  John and Pat got mention for setting up tables.  She also thanked sponsors, judges, committee members and volunteers.  It took until 2100hrs on Friday to set everything up for the shop.

Entries were down slightly this year and some categories were down a lot painting and woodworking were way down but Mrs Curtis said that weaving and felt-making were massive compared to what they have been.  “It works in ebbs and flows,” she added. “We get nearly the same numbers of entries year on year but what they are changes.”  She feels it is a good thing because the quality just seems to go up every single year.

Mr. Paul Martinez, the Acting Governor handed out the prizes.
