Br.Ant.Territory : James Clark Ross Returns to Antarctic Duties
Submitted by (Juanita Brock) 26.11.2002 (Article Archived on 10.12.2002)

She's back! The RRS James Clark Ross has been repaired and will be continuing her Antarctic programme.

By J. Brock (SARTMA)

RRS James Clark Ross, the British Antarctic Survey ship that was damaged at FIPASS last month only hours after having arrived from the UK for the summer season, has been repaired in Montevideo, Uruguay and is now steaming to Stanley to continue her Antarctic programme.

Due in on Thursday morning, the RRS James Clark Ross has had to cancel her first Antarctic cruise of the season but was repaired soon enough to enable the rest of the scientific cruises and re-supply to go ahead.

Tanker, Centarus, the vessel that struck the RRS James Clark amidships on her port side, suffered damage to her bow.

Damage to the RRS James Clark Ross included that to her shell plating, hull, a cargo tender and a cabin.
