An unfortunate cow wandered into a Falklands minefield and set off an anti-tank mine.

STRAYING COW SETS OFF ANTI-TANK MINE

By J. Brock (FINN)

A straying cow that unfortunately wandered inside a minefield opposite the Clamshell in Port William has set off an anti-tank mine.  Locals say the cow was owned by the Falkland Islands Company.

At 1700 hrs on Friday the mine went off and shook many houses in Stanley but it wasn’t until Saturday that townsfolk discovered it wasn’t a military exercise that made the explosion.

Mines within the fences are 25 years old.

This is a developing story and will be updated in due course.
