FALKLAND LANDHOLDINGS BOARD REPORT FOR MAY 2007

By J. Brock (FINN)

A meeting of the Falkland Landholdings Board took place in the Liberation Room of the Secretariat at 1330 hrs on Tuesday, 22 May 2007.  Board Members present were:  Cllr Ian Hansen (Chair), Cllr Mike Rendell, Mr. Owen Summers (General Manager), Mr. Keith Padgett (Treasury Representative), Mr. S. Poole (Farmers’ Representative), Miss Bernadette Lang (Financial Controller)Mr. Mike Evans (RBA Representative), and Mrs Christine Scipio-O’dean (Minutes)  Apologies were received from Mr. Miles Lee.

In matters arising from the meeting held on 26 April 2007, Cllr. Rendell mentioned that he heard from another source that the Military had offered to dig a new tip for Fitzroy.  The report came about as a result of the negative publicity the area got when a TV Documentary focused in on the amount of trash around the 1982 monuments.

Mr Owen Summers presented the General Manager’s Report and began with a wool report.  Cored but not sold are 102 bales and 221 bales from Fitzroy are still to be cored.  There are 435 bales of skirting at FIPASS and 886 bales not sold.

The Abattoir has changed its procedure in reporting boils.  Carcass and offal boils will be reported on a 50/50 basis.  Zoe Luxton will provide a detailed report on boils found in carcasses and offal at the Abattoir.

AI and ET programmes are in progress and there will be a report on what happened at the next meeting.

Horticulture at Fitzroy returned a result that was 60 to 70% of what it was last year.

Miss Bernadette Lang gave her Financial Report and presented accounts and cash flow to the end of June 2007.  Also presented were individual farm accounts.  She reported that cash was healthy though most areas were over-budgeted.
