Falklands : MIKAELA FORD MAY QUEEN 2007

Miss Mikaela Ford, daughter of Mr and Mrs Colin (Tooty) Ford of 15 Kent Road has been crowned May Queen 2007 by H. E. the Governor Mr. Alan Huckle at the May Ball held on Friday, 25 May.

Miss Mikaela Ford, daughter of Mr and Mrs Colin (Tooty) Ford of 15 Kent Road has been crowned May Queen 2007 by H. E. the Governor Mr. Alan Huckle at the May Ball held on Friday, 25 May.  May Princess is Miss Carole Goss, daughter of Mr and Ian and Sue Goss of 98 Davis Street.  Carole's sister, Jane, was last year's May Princess. Prince Charming this year is Duane Evans, son of Michele and Rikki Evans of Stanley and Elephant Beach.  Runner-up is Thomas Burston, son of Steve and Katie Burston of 91 Davis Street.

 

The difficult job of judging went to Ms Elaine Murehead, Ms Andrea Wright and Mr Johnny Lalley, who are all new to the Falklands.

 

The May Queen, Miss Ford, looked stunning in a bronze satin floor length gown with a white under-skirt.  Miss Goss wore a floor length crimson gown with capped sleeves.

 

Other ladies who competed for May Queen are Rachael Goodwin, Layla Crowie, Pamela Davino, Eva Velasquez, Erica Berntsen, Stacey McKay, Ulia Sychova, Gabi Ross, Kirsty Livermore, Felicity Alazia, Joanne Butler, Carole Pole-Evans, Alice Hancox, Nadia Arkhipkina, Karen Minto, Dahiana Trindades, Terri Clifford, Jane Goss, Tanzie Bonner, Andrea Sylvester-Peters, Abbie Heathman, Toni Jacobson, Farrah Peck and Kyrsteen Ormond.

 

In the running for Prince Charming were Glynn McKay, Elliot Vincent, Kenton Goodwin, Karl Chaloner, Callum Middleton, Stefan Clarke, Jon Felton, David Hewitt, Ryan Shillitoe, Lucas Berntsen, Nathan Elliot, Michael Brownlee, Luas Biggs, Liam Short, Rhys Clifford, Ashley Wylie, Clovis Kilmartin and Francisco Alverez.

 

This year’s theme is the Centenary of the Scouting movement.  Town Hall decorations were made by the Beavers, Cubs Scouts and Explorer Scouts in Stanley and at MPA.

 

Thanks goes to all who helped with this year’s May Ball, especially mentioned are the Malvina House Hotel, providing the food, Mrs Jan Miller for the tiaras and flowers, Mrs. Mim Newton for the sash, The Dance Club for lessons and music, FIODA for stage support and the Falkland Islands Chamber of Commerce for programmes.
