Falklands : Falkland Wool Growers Report for week ending 09 February 2007

WOOL REPORT: for the week ending Friday 9th February 2007


 


Auctions


 


The Australian Eastern Market Indicator was unchanged on Tuesday, gained four cents on Wednesday before drifting five cents on Thursday.  The EMI therefore lost a cent on the week to close at 930 A cents.  Next week’s larger offering of 76,373 bales was said to cause the drift


on Thursday.


 


In New Zealand, the Merino Indicator was quoted at 1,223 NZ cents, the Mid Micron


 Indicator gained nine cents to 637 NZ cents, the Fine Crossbred Indicator was unchanged


 at 351 NZ cents whilst the Strong Crossbred Indicator gained four cents to 332 NZ cents. 


The Lambs Indicator was up a cent at 373 NZ cents. 


 


The South African Cape Wools Overall Merino Indicator added 0.4 percent this week,


moving from 3,793 to 3,808 SA cents/kg clean.


 


The British Indicator rose 2 pence to 67 pence/kg greasy.


 


 


Currencies


The Australian dollar was trading a cent stronger at A$2.52£ whilst the New Zealand dollar


was two cents stronger at NZ$2.88 /£.

“Some 35.4% of the Australian clip is under 19.5 microns – an increase of 3.1% compared


with last season; 20.3% of the clip is under 18.5 microns, also a rise of 3.1%”  WRWMR

FIC’s voyage arrived Southampton and has cleared Customs and Port Health.


 


Good sales of both fleece and oddments were achieved, with additional business


anticipated to develop next week.
