St Helena : New Desk Officer for St Helena

Governor Clancy has been informed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Officer that Amanda McDowell is to be the new FCO Desk Officer for St Helena and its Dependencies.

New Desk Officer for St Helena

 

 

Governor Clancy has been informed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Officer that Amanda McDowell is to be the new FCO Desk Officer for St Helena and its Dependencies. Amanda will replace Karen Moran and will be working closely with Governor Clancy and the Administrators’ of Ascension and Tristan da Cunha for the next few years. She has previously served in Switzerland, South Africa, Australia and Ethiopia where she worked alongside the Department for International Development.

 

Commenting on her appointment she said “I am very much looking forward to working with St Helena and its Dependencies over the next few years.”

 

Amanda will be visiting St Helena in February of this year as part of the Development Aid Planning Mission. She said “I am delighted to be able to visit St Helena and Ascension Island at the beginning of my time in the Overseas Territories Directorate. The opportunity to experience the Islands at first hand will be invaluable in helping me to understand the almost unique situation and circumstances of the St Helenian and Ascension communities.”
