Falklands : Royal Visitors to the Falkland Islands

Princess Anne and her husband Rear Admiral Timothy Laurence will visit the Falklands on their ways to Antarctica.

ROYAL VISITORS TO THE FALKLANDS

Her Royal Highness Princess Anne and her husband Rear Admiral Timothy Laurence will be  visiting  the

Falklands from Friday, 12 January 2007 to Monday, 15 January 2007.  Her Royal Highness will arrive on the afternoon of Friday, 12 January at Mount Pleasant Airport. Her first venue will be to visit HMS DUMBARTON CASTLE at East Cove Mare Harbour, followed by a visit to RLC/Royal Signals/RAF Lyneham Personnel at Tristar Hangar.

 

On her way to Stanley Her Royal Highness and Rear Admiral Laurence will visit the Royal Fleet Auxiliary

Memorial and Welsh Guards Memorial, Fitzroy Bay.  At a commemorative service she will lay 2 wreaths.

 

A helicopter will carry the Royal couple to the football pitch in Stanley, where they will make their way  

to Government House and attend  an informal Supper.

 

On Saturday, 13 January 2007 HRH the Princess Royal and Rear Admiral Laurence will depart by helicopter from the football pitch to visit Penguin and Albatross Colonies on Saunders Island and to visit Military Remote Radar Site and 303 Signals Unit at Byron Heights.  The couple will also visit Residence of Councillor Hansen’s Parents, Hill Cove Settlement for a private luncheon.  Later they will meet West Falkland Residents.  In the evening they will attend Falkland Islands Government Reception at Stanley Town Hall before attending Dinner, hosted by the Falkland Islands Government at Falklands Brasserie Restaurant.

 

On Sunday, 14 January the couple will depart Government House on foot (weather dependent) and visit 1982 Liberation Monument, Stanley.  A short Commemoration Service will follow and a wreath laid.

Then they attend Church Service at Christ Church Cathedral where HRH the Princess Royal will read a lesson.  This will be followed by a Youth Reception at the Parish Hall.

 

On Sunday afternoon the couple will visit South Georgia and Sandwich Islands Fishery Patrol Vessel (ex NLB Pharos) followed by a visit to the Seamen’s Mission.  There will be a private luncheon and  reception prior to Rear Admiral Laurence’s departure to Mount Pleasant for a separate Military programme.

 

Princess Anne will visit the Chamber of Commerce after the departure as well as the Tourism and Falkland Islands Conservation Centre.  She will also visit Government Archives.

 

HRH the Princess Royal and her husband Rear Admiral Timothy Laurence will depart the Falklands via BAS Dash-7 on Monday morning.
