BEATRIZ WINS NEW YEARS RAFT RACE IN STANLEY

By J. Brock (FINN)

Wet, Wet, Wet, Wet!

With the sheep chill factor at 95 – at critical level for newly shorn sheep – the New Years Raft Race began from “B” Slip in Stanley Harbour.  Wet, wet, wet, wet is the best description of the weather but the show went on with approximately 10 craft taking part.  After taking the only outside photograph it was a quick retreat to the Narrows Bar where the prize-giving took place at 1400hrs.

The Captain of Beatriz accepts 1st prize from John Mascall-BottA very soaked John Mascall – Bott, AKA the Civil/Military Liaison Officer, handed out first prize to the BEATRIZ team from the East Jetty and second prize to the raft crew from the Leisure Centre.

Thanks to 460 Port Troop there was a new shield this year for the Winners.  Runners up got the old shield.
