Falklands : All Set for the Falkland's Craft Fair

It's that time again and people have spent the winter months working on their projects.

ALL SET FOR THE FALKLAND’S CRAFT FAIR

All Set for the Falkland

Falklanders are very proficient at making their own horse-gear.

The Falkland Craft Fair will take place in the Community School Street on 06 and 07 September 2003 between 1400 and 1630. This year, as usual, there will be Adult’s and Children’s Classes in the following Categories: Homespun Wool. Knitting, Weaving, Rug-making and Basket-work, Sewing and Crochet, Embroidery, Tapestry and Cross-stitch, Soft Toy Making, Horn-work, Gear-making, Leather-work and Skins, Woodwork and Metal Work, Pottery, Jewellery and Sculpture, Model-making, Art (and medium) Photography and Any other Handicraft Item. Added to this are items for display only.

Rules are that the items must be crafted in the Falkland Islands, photos must have been taken in the Falkland Islands, South Georgia or British Antarctic Territory and in all sections, except Display only, the item must not have been shown or exhibited in the Falkland Craft Fair before. To continue, you can enter as many items as you like and each item must be labelled with the section and class in which it is to be entered. The exhibitor’s name should be on the reverse of the label. All beginners should state that they are a beginner and children’s ages should be on the label of items they submit. Entrants in the photography should mount exhibits on card or in frames.

Prizes on offer include the Cable&Wireless PLC Challenge Cup, FIDC Challenge Cup, FIC Ltd.Challenge Cup and the Standard Chartered Bank Rose Bowl. Also included in the prize list areThe George Porter Challenge Cup, Gift Vouchere, and, in the Children’s Classes only, cash prizes of £5.00 for First, £3.00 for Second and £2.00 for Third.

Entries should be taken to the Community School between 1500 and 1800 on Friday, 05 September 2003.

The Organising Committee accepts no responsibility for the loss and/or damage of any exhibits and it reserves the right to make alterations to the programme in advance to the show being opened to the public. Finally, entries and exhibits need to be collected as soon as possible after the prize giving.
