The South Atlantic Fisheries Commission will be the topic of discussion.

ARGENTINA AND FALKLANDS IN FISHERIES TALKS

Argentina has requested talks to discuss the mandate of the South Atlantic Fisheries Commission (SAFC).  The meeting is scheduled to take place in London on the 6^th and 7^th of September.

Set up in 1990 and meeting twice a year, once in Buenos Aires and once in London, the Commission has not met on a regular basis for quite some time.  The SAFC did not hold a full meeting last year, although there has been some exchange of technical data. 

Mr. John Barton, Director of Fisheries will attend this meeting.  A press release from Government House states that Councillors have been kept informed about preparations for this meeting.
