It is obvious that despite repeated warnings form the Australian Fisheries and Customs Vessel, Southern Supporter to stop and follow her to the nearest port, the Uruguayan flagged VIARSA1 has set a course to Montevideo. According to Australian Customs, both vessels are now located 1730 nautical miles south-west of Cape Town, South Africa and 1800 nautical miles east-north-east from the Falklands.
During this 19th day of pursuit, the chase still remains in the Southern Ocean and encounters navigationally challenging icebergs, sea conditions and weather. Two hundred nautical miles have been covered since yesterday in a north-north-west direction.
Meanwhile, SA Aguhlas, complete with helicopter, continues to steam towards the two vessels and is reported by the South African press to be in radar contact with the vessels.
