SOUTH GEORGIA, SOUTH SANDWICH ISLANDS AND FALKLANDS FIRST LADY GOVERNOR SWORN IN

A First for Falklands, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands

Her Honour Harriet Hall taking the oath of office

Harriet hall, who recently took over as First Secretary at Government House and as Assistant Commissioner for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, has been sworn in as Acting Governor of the Falkland Islands and Acting Commissioner for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. This makes her the first woman to be assigned to both posts.

The brief ceremony took place at Government House in Stanley at 1600 on Thursday, 21 August 2003. Mr. David Lang, QC, the Falklands Attorney General, administered the oath.

H. E. the Governor Mr. Howard Pearce left the Falklands on Thursday morning via RAF Tristar for the UK.
