C24 STRATEGY DISCUSSED AT GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE

By J. Brock (FINN)

Cllr Mike Summers, April Spokesman for General Purposes Committee, has announced the strategy for The UN Committee on Decolonisation – better known as C24.  The meeting will be held at UN Headquarters in New York during our winter.  Councillors Richard Davies and Richard Stevens will be attending.

At GPC Councillors discussed the use that the C24 Committee has and why the Falklands attend each year.  He also said they discussed the messages they would be using in the meeting and who those messages are aimed at.

Messages put across will concern self-determination, the people’s choice of which government to affiliate with and the on-going development of our internal self government.

Emphasis will be placed on the messages and their direction in hopes that delegates can be more sympathetic to our point of view.
