INQUEST FOR BRITISH SCIENTIST TO TAKE PLACE IN ROTHERA

By J. Brock (FINN)

An inquest into the tragic death of British scientist, Kirsty Brown will take place on the Antarctic Scientific Station where she was killed on Tuesday by a Leopard Seal.

At this time, it is not known when the inquest will take place because the Coroner, Nick Sanders, will have to await a suitable aircraft and the right weather conditions in order to carry out his journey to the Antarctic Station.  The aircraft normally contracted to do the trip, Dash Sevens from British Antarctic Survey, are now being serviced in Canada.

Upon his arrival, the Coroner will begin his investigations and talk to the witnesses who watched the tragic accident and carried out a valiant attempt to save Kirsty Brown's life.

After the initial inquest the chances are that it will reconvene in the Falklands, where the post mortem will also be carried out.
