St Helena : St. Helena to Have Shipping Review
Submitted by Saint Helena Herald (Juanita Brock) 16.07.2003 (Article Archived on 30.07.2003)

High-Point Rendel are doing a shipping review for St. Helena

Shipping Review

The High-Point Rendel Shipping review team will arrive next Wednesday 16 July from Cape Town.  The remit of the team is to provide a comprehensive cost/benefit analysis for a range of alternative schedules for the RMS St Helena and to recommend changes that would maximise the probability of delivering a better economic outcome for St Helena as a whole; to recommend appropriate institutional arrangements to meet SHGs need for on-going shipping advice and management services, and to identify options for meeting St Helena’s on-going need for commercial sea access following the introduction of air access.

A public consultation meeting has been arranged for Monday the 21st at the Consulate Hotel from 12.30pm to 1pm.  Anyone wishing to make representations on the above issues is welcome to meet the team then or contact the Government Economist to make alternative arrangements to meet with the team.

Study results should be finalised in September.
