Falklands : Councillors Shown MPA Defences

COUNCILLORS SHOWN MPA DEFENCES

An Editorial by J. Brock (FINN)

Councillors last week saw first hand the defences that are in place at MPA that would deter any Argentine Military threat.  News of the visit came at the most recent Legislative Council meeting, when Councillors thanked Commodore Ian Moncrieff for his hospitality and the thorough tour of the base. (LEGCO in full will be published on sartma.com and falklandnews com.)  As reported by Councillors, the defences and intelligence are top-notch and more than enough to deter any threat to Falklands security.

Contrast this to press speculation about the Argentines building up their Military strength and using the arrest of the JOHN CHEEK as proof that an invasion is going to happen.  Rubbish.  The JOHN CHEEK is innocent until proven guilty in an Argentine Court for its alleged contravention of Argentine Fisheries laws.  What an invasion has to do with it is anybody’s guess.

I realise that people are getting tired of listening to war stories about Afghanistan and Iraq.  But does this mean we have to put up with undue media speculation about another Falklands War?  “Here we go again!”

Recently the JOHN CHEEK caught a Giant Squid and donated it to a museum in the UK.  Now there’s a story for you.  “Giant Squid Take Revenge on Poachers.”

It makes more sense than conjuring up an invasion plan from an alleged fisheries case.
