For the past ten months the fisheries patrol boat, Wave Dancer, Tristan da Cunha’s Fishery Patrol Boat, has been at the VT Halmatic Shipyard on Portchester, Portsmouth, where she has been undergoing an extensive refit, including the replacement of her engines and the installation of stern drivers.  Wave Dancer was built in the shipyard and underwent sea Trials prior to her first transport to Tristan.

Thanks to the Falkland Islands Company, who own and manage the Portsmouth Ferry Company, Wave Dancer will be transported back to Tristan da Cunha shortly.

Two Tristanians, Joseph Green, husband of Chief Islander, Anne Green and Nigel Lavarello of the Public Works Department, have been fully trained in the operation of the Wave Dancer, which, thanks to stern drivers, can quietly operate in shallow water.
